NAME: LEWIS HALL
INSTRUMENT: Bass
LOCATION: Peterborough
HOW DID YOU GET INTO PINK FLOYD:
As a teenager I got into a lot of bands from the 60s & 70s including Zeppelin, The Beatles and of course the Floyd!
WHAT MADE YOU JOIN THINK FLOYD:
Think Floyd played the Key Theatre, Peterborough in June 2001. I was working in the box office there and heard they were looking for a new Bass player, I jumped at the chance to get an audition and started touring with them in September that same year.
FAVOURITE FLOYD TRACK:
It changes from week to week, but at the moment 'Echoes', 'Us & Them' & 'Welcome To The Machine'.
FAVOURITE FLOYD ALBUM:
As above, but at the moment 'Dark Side of the Moon', but last week it was 'Meddle'.
BEST GIG and WHY:
There have been so many, but I always enjoy playing in Peterborough, either at the Key Theatre or the Beer Festival. Another great venue to play is the Pacific Road in Birkenhead.
WORST GIG AND WHY:
The first time we played Lindos for FloydFest 2005. It was an outside gig and just before we went onstage a large gust of wind picked up my guitar and smashed it against a steel bar. Fortunately I had a spare to use for the gig and I managed to stick it back together with prit-stick when I got home.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE:
US Fender Jazz Bass, Washburn Acoustic guitar and I borrow Richard's Takamine 12 string for 'Wish You Were Here'.
BRIEF CV:
Had piano lessons as a child but never really got on very well, learnt a few guitar chords by watching Paul Simon videos but when given a Bass guitar for my 16th birthday I immediately taught myself by playing along with Led Zeppelin albums. Got my first pro job in 1999 playing for the Key Theatre pantomime, tried a few other function and blues outfits until the TF job came along in 2001.
Since then I've continued with theatre work as well as playing in tribute acts for Hendrix, Prog Rock show Masterpieces and even a couple of gigs with Letz Zep. I also enjoy writing and recording music with singer Hayley Sanderson who has been known to perform 'Great Gig In The Sky' at a few of our shows.
NAME OF 1ST BAND YOU PLAYED IN:
Zilch - they were as bad as the name suggests!
