New Line-up... This
year we are very proud to announce our new drummer/vocalist Steve
Farmer. News about him and about Wiggy’s retirement from skin-bashing
will be posted soon, plus updated pics. We are also increasing the
line-up to five and including a special guest female vocalist at many of
the dates (where we’re not playing The Wall). Great Gig in the Sky is
consequently quite a likely track to be added! As if this weren’t
enough, we are increasing the size of our sound rig, and our stalwart
sound engineer, Dave assures all that the volume will be well and truly
pumped up…

Special Preview Gig... The
news of this year’s tour seems to have been leaked by
‘government sources’ so to set the record straight, the tour is designed to
celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Division Bell,
and we are planning to play a large chunk of the album from
Cluster One to High Hopes. As some parts of the country didn’t
get the chance to see our complete Wall show, we are playing
this at some special dates which will be indicated soon on the
gig list. In addition there will be a few brand new songs &
surprises from other albums never before tackled by the band,
plus a re-working of some of the classics. To give these new
songs an airing, we are planning a special preview gig at The
Park in Peterborough on Sunday 18th January. No
staging or school kids I’m afraid but a good rocking night of
Floyd songs is guaranteed. Tickets are available in advance from
Lounge Lizard in Peterborough. Hope to see as many of you as
possible there.

Steve's Premiere...
Steve Farmer made his
theatre debut with Think Floyd at Swindon on the 1st Feb (we'll
tactfully gloss over the Peterborough gig coz he was getting his endings
mixed up and you don't wanna do that...). Sitting behind his industrial
strength Premier Kit, at last Think Floyd have a drummer who can be
SEEN. Wig: top drummer, supreme vocalist, redoubtable driver, invisible
band-member. Sorry. Belting his way through Lucifer Sam (drums AND
vocals), giving Money a new lease of life with his exciting Tom work and
scaring all the kids with his hideously accurate Caledonian
Schoolmaster, we will forgive him his holding up proceedings in The Wall
by forgetting to yell "Ooh, Aggah!!" and thus leaving the band
stranded waiting for In the Flesh (reprise). Still, this pales into
insignificance compared to Rich's sudden desire to invent 12-tone note
rows at the end of his solo in Money...

Think Floyd watchers may have detected less of Rick's body on view
at Brecon (a welcome improvement many would agree) - were the
keyboards higher than usual? And what was that tasteful black
cloth draped over the stands? Well all can be shamefully revealed
here - that was no keyboard stand, that was a standard issue
office desk propping up the S90 and XP30. Had Rick got his brain
in gear that morning, his keyboard stands would not have been
lying in his music room back in London, but would have joined the
rest of the gear in the 5 hour journey to Wales. And the third
keyboard? How many punters out there spotted it sitting on an
ironing board deftly nicked from the wardrobe department???!?

Think Floyd on BBC Radio Kent... On Saturday
28th Feb Rick & Lewis were live in the studios of BBC Radio
Kent for an interview and performance. The music side was
delivered against the odds - with the band's gear safely stored on
the tour van some 200 miles away instruments had to be 'borrowed'
and programmed at short notice. Lack of leads proved the most
worrying aspect - BBC technicians bravely scoured the streets of
Tunbridge Wells for a music shop which could supply the necessary
technology and 30 minutes into the interview the studio was
finally able to broadcast Fat Old Sun & Wish You Were Here to
South East England. All were delighted with the results. The BBC
still took the leads back to the shop to get their money back...

Blast from the Past...
We managed to dig out
this old photo from 1943 showing Rick, Steve & Lewis's dads
when they formed the highly successful tribute act 'Back in the
Swing'. Here they are allegedly playing an original number which
went down like a Lead balloon in village halls around England
(everyone was there for the Gershwin, Porter & Miller riffs),
but legend has it that a young Roger Waters was later to hear this
tune and San Tropez was born... Richard's dad was late that
night....

Think Floyd In "Grease"... Following
their smash hit 'Saturday Night Fever', Think Floyd return to the
West End with... hang on...pardon?... Oh, Greece!! (right...sorry)
Um, next year Think Floyd are presenting a very special musical
event. Following in the footsteps of Pink Floyd's Pompeii gig, but
taking a wrong turn at Venice, TF will find themselves in the
lovely Island of Rhodes next June playing two (different) nights
of Floyd music. The venue overlooks the sea, is in turn overlooked
by the Lindos ancient acropolis and coincides with the rising full
moon. Lindos has been chosen because of its long association with
members of Pink Floyd. The event is named FloydFest and full
details and information can be found by clicking the link on the
homepage. TF are planning to include a complete performance of
Dark Side of the Moon and our concert version of the Wall plus
many brand new surprises. All fans are urged to apply as soon as
possible as enquiries have been overwhelming. John Travolta will
not be there.

Our Theme for 2005... If you have visited any
of the theatre sites, you will have seen that we are planning to
celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the release of Wish You Were
Here, arguably the best Pink Floyd album of them all (there's a
new discussion topic for the FansThink message board...). What was
tactfully omitted in view of the fact we were just beginning
rehearsals is the fact that we shall be playing the whole album
from start to finish as a complete entity right to the closing
notes of Shine On Part 423. We hope this is a first! In addition,
we have recognised that as the album is a homage to Syd Barrett
(amongst other things - see the new poster for extra allusions) we
may well feature more Barrett tracks than usual. Nuff said. Be
assured that Dark Side, Wall, Animals and Division Bell will still
be well represented, and at a few venues (even less than last
year) we will be performing the virtually complete Wall show for
those who need their Waters fix. Lewis, Rick, Steve & Richard
wish all their loyal fans a Happy New Year and look forward to
seeing you soon.
