NAME: RICHARD MORSE
INSTRUMENT: Guitar
LOCATION: Kent
HOW DID YOU GET INTO PINK FLOYD:
I borrowed a copy of 'The Wall' from a mate, I really liked it and shortly afterwards in the summer of 1990 I saw the Gilmour lead version of Pink Floyd on TV performing 'Sorrow', 'Comfortably Numb' and 'Run Like Hell' at Knebworth as part of the Nordoff-Robbins Music Trust charity event. After that I was hooked and gradually bought the entire Pink Floyd back catalogue. I think the second album I acquired was 'Relics' which I grew to love after the initial shock of it not sounding like the 'Delicate Sound Of Thunder' live album.
WHAT MADE YOU JOIN THINK FLOYD:
I had been rehearsing with a blues style cover band up in Deptford, London. As we were wheeling our out our gear I saw a small advert on a notice board asking for guitar and vocals for a Pink Floyd tribute with a UK tour. I had in the past tried to get my own Floyd tribute going but it never quite got off the ground so I thought I would give the number a call, and a couple of auditions later I got the job. It almost goes without saying that I am a massive Pink Floyd fan, so to land a gig in a really authentic Floyd tribute was great.
FAVOURITE FLOYD TRACK:
This is an impossible question, but to name a few: 'Shine On', 'Echoes', 'Comfortably Numb', 'Wish You Were Here', 'Arnold Layne' etc.
FAVOURITE FLOYD ALBUM:
Again this is a really difficult question but I would probably say 'Wish You Were Here'.
BEST GIG AND WHY:I have played a few now, however one that sticks in my mind as one of the best was my first gig with Think Floyd back in 2003. It was the Peterborough Beer Festival and after getting over my nerves there was a real sense of elation to be playing Pink Floyd's music to such a large responsive crowd.
WORST GIG AND WHY:
A festival in 2005 when the power went down half way through. It was restarted and we finished the gig. It was also the day of Live 8 which I had a ticket for to see the real Pink Floyd play, as it turned out for the last time, I could not attend as I was playing in Think Floyd!
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE:
USA big head stock Fender Strat plugged into an amp that models nearly all of Gilmour's amps and effects, a Jim Dunlop Wa, lap steel and a Washburn six string acoustic.
BRIEF CV: Sessions and bands too unknown to mention.
NAME OF FIRST BAND: Too embarrassing to mention.
