NAME: STEVE FARMER
INSTRUMENT: Drums
LOCATION: Nottingham
HOW DID YOU GET INTO PINK FLOYD:
Floyd music has been with me since the mid 80s when I first heard 'Dark Side Of The Moon' along with 'Wish You Were Here'
WHAT MADE YOU JOIN THINK FLOYD:
I was playing drums for a Pantomime at Peterborough's Key Theatre over Christmas 2002 when I met Lewis. After a nerve wracking audition process I started drumming for Think Floyd in 2004.
FAVOURITE FLOYD TRACK:
'Echoes' is the firm favourite track to perform live, the Barrett era is the preferred listening choice.
BRIEF CV:
After studying at the DrumTech, London in 1989 I started my professional drumming journey. Firstly playing drums for show bands performing and backing cabaret throughout the uk's premier holiday parks, this then led to the word of clubs and cabaret tours with New Orleans soul singer Phinesta Taylor, notable support slots during the mid 90s included, The Drifters, Gino Washington and Black Lace.
A brief flirtation with the rock'n'roll dream; writing, recording and drumming original material for rock band The Vow led to tour supports for some of the notable bands of the time including Carter USM, Midget, Spear Of Destiny and China Drum.
I continue to perform with THE VOW and the ANDY WHITTLE BAND in Nottingham, as well as a thriving drum tuition practise, and performing music from eastern European Klezmer to Tango, South African township jive and Balinese monkey chant.
